Whether it's Rinnai, Navien, Takagi, Noritz, Bosch, AO Smith or ant other tankless water heaters they all have some misconceptions. The misconceptions are as follows:

  • "Instant hot water". While the hot water is instantly created it is not instantly DELIVERED. The only way to speed up the delivery time of a water heater is with a pump. Not all tankless water heaters are capable of having a pump so careful consideration in the model you choose is needed.

  • "An electric tankless can easily replace my electric conventional tank water heater." This is not the case. Your current electric water heater has 220-240 volts serving it. A good tankless electric water heater needs the equivalent power as 3-4 central air conditioners. That means (3) 50 amp breakers with (3) large wires must be added to accommodate the electric tankless water heater.

  • "Tankless water heaters are expensive." While the initial costs of install a tankless water heater may be much more than a standard replacement tank style you must consider the monthly cost savings of having a water heater that only uses energy when it is in use. A conventional tank style water heater heats up and cools down 24/7 costing you money every time it does.

We hope this helps and you will consider Avery & Sons Plumbing + Tankless when deciding if a tankless water heater is right for you.
